If so, are you able to get 10-bit output at 4K resolution? I can either get 4K at 8-bit, or 1080p with 10-bit. Player doesn't seem to want to give both 10-bit and 4K.

As I know this Epson 5040 have HDMI 1.4 witch limited to 4K 8bit.

Have an Epson 5040UB with HDR and 4k/24/50/60 P support. Also BT 2020 support is mentioned but 8/10-bit and HDMI 1.4/2.0 are nowhere in the manual. HDCP 2.2 is explicitly supported too.

But here HDMI 1.4 is stated indeed:
    https://epson.com/For-Home/Projecto...ctor-with-4K-Enhancement-and-HDR/p/V11H713020
So you are probably right. Still a very nice projector in practice. Even DVD's look nice on the big wall.
Using 2160P24 bandwidth of HDMI 1.4 should be adequate to deal with 10-bit (but P50/P60 require HDMI 2.0). Using an Xtreamer eXpress with it and have no access at the moment to try myself.

    Epson 5040UB is 1080p (1920 x 1080) with 4K enhancement(4K w/pixel shifting).
    Connection Panel: HDMI 1.4, HDMI (HDCP 2.2), VGA In (Dsub-15pin), Network (RJ-45), 3xUSB, RS232 (DB-9pin), 12-Volt Trigger.
4K w/pixel shifting is convenient solution with good report quality/price vs native 4K projectors.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like 10-bit 4K isn't gonna happen. Bummer.
