guys believe me i am not that optimistic, but hey...what can i do ? i must have faith...my A5 works ok and there is no other media player worth it for the moment...as no new SOC is out...

What about the zidoo H6 Pro?

I looked at the H6 but the Allwinner is not a next generation SOC. It has widevine but not 8k or 120Hz. Also Zidoo appear to be doing their Alpha testing in the field! Ok it has Android 7 but not the stability or currently the performance to recommend it.
If I just wanted Android 7 I would probably go with HiMedia.

@Rita, why can't we get a date from Egreat? I'm sorry but I do understand that an exact date is difficult. But at least you guys should have some idea in when it can be released? You are working long enough on it and still all we receive is Have Faith. I'm sorry but the Faith is getting lost without some clear answer to some clear question(s). And it is not something 1 person is asking for but almost everybody on this forum is asking for a release date. And it is just showing, at least to me, that Egreat doesn't care about the customers as much as they want us to believe. For if they would care, there would be a date to satisfy the customers. But maybe it is just my opinion and my lost trust in the words that are being written, as those words are the same since last year. With the same or other issues.

    Hello Nenito2k,

I don't know, after all those promises, I also bought the Nvidia Shield TV, so now my girl friend is still using Egreat A5 and I have this also just to see what I can do with Egreat for her. But anyway, Nvidia is working Great with Kodi 17.6 and now this week they even released firmware from Android 7 to Android 8 (didn't install it yet). How the hardware is going I don't know. But with he picture or sound quality, I don't see Egreat is better. But I do see Nvidia is much more stable then Egreat. But works only with other apps and not their own, as Egreat should do.

And yes, I did prefer the internal player, as I stated before, but not in the way it is going. But you always stated that you like the Vidon (which is in principle also Kodi).

@Rita, that's great news. Will it include any update to Vidon?

@Copperhead no... @Rita always led us to believe they will skip version 17 and go directly to 18...that will be officially out in 3-5 months...and it is logical as Kodi 17 is old already..so no point in wasting time...

Of course Rita never promised officially to update vision..but since Kodi 18 and version will be so similar I have faith Egreat will update it one last time easily and this will be a big plus compared to other devices!

What will be the advantage of switching from the current Android to the 7?

OH I do hope so just as long as we do not have loads of beta versions and have to wait a long time for the finished version

I suppose that is the $64,000 question!

To some extend it depends on what the developer makes of it....
From a user point of view it should extend the life of the box as older software tends to loose support.
The Android 7 SDK’s and API’s provided by HiSilicon should allow for greater efficiency and better performance and security with support for newer APPs.

Hopefully this should translate into broader support, faster performance, improved UI and even better picture. Time will tell.
