Not that many....It's been my daily driver for months now and it works just fine apart from a few quirks especially with srt files streamed from the NAS.

@Morgan should publish something about android 7 in the next few days. According to what i have spoken with him the OS is finally complete...

I'm hoping that something comes up -- mostly because of the black bar bug that yeah, I know I can circumvent by just using 16x9 aspect ratio files. I also suspect that other apps will also become available with an OS update.
I guess I'll have to find out when the time comes. EC-S seems to know a lot about that.

Wow, some news after months. I still will only believe it when I see it....
    Any expected release date?

@Richard Xu or @Morgan should publish the ANDROID 7 status in the next fews days; i spoke to them and they confirmed this to me. It should have been done long ago...we shall SEE

on my side i gave up on waiting...if it comes out one day, then fine; if not i will sell my device at the end of 2019 anyway...

Well....lets just say that I believe it when I see it. I honestly don't care anymore at this point. They lost all trust I had in them.

This was around three weeks ago...still waiting.

Upgraded my TV from ATV7 to ATV8 (Oreo) and must say that it is a real change. ATV8 looks absolutely identical on my Dinobot U5 Mini (still beta due to missing Media Center and Enigma2 support). Total new GUI and customization. It is very intuitive and flexible geared at full control via a simple remote control (BT or RF) plus above all voice control (no real need for a pointer mouse).

Already said before going from A5 Leanback to A7 Leanback is hardly visible for the average user.
Anyway updates with fixes and new features will be very welcome. I hope they ever come.

Almost ten days and still nothing. It’s beyond ridiculous!
Maybe they mixed up “days” with “months”.....

It's been two already. No harm in waiting a few more :p

This is a joke, but the joke is on us. I keep checking this forum just for fun. I just wish I could meet one of these guys! I think I could learn a great deal as to how to trick people into buying things with empty promises .

REALTEK already announced many weeks ago their new gen. SOC that will be a BEAST, and we will finally say goodbye to egreat...as soon as a new players comes out i will get one! and it will have android 9 at least!

it will probably be a ZIDOO, as those are priced ok and have WAY, WAY, WAY better support than EGREAT, hell they even update their own KODI every time! Egreat never bothered to make a VIDON update in over 2 years !

It might become a long wait for RTD1395 with Android Oreo+! I do like Android TV Oreo specifically by the way but that is really a differently skinned and featured Android OS flavor.

Vidon is a very sad story, In fact this was an alliance with Egreat (lifetime support) with far bigger improvements made to KODI by Vidon. We all know Vidon went out of business and the source code was made public. I don't expect Egreat ever to update Vidon as it stands today. They could introduce the Wrapper (part of Hisillicon SDK) as Himedia and Dinobot are doing?

@Morgan just sent me an email now and said that a certain @Iron man is taking over these forums; in fact he just published something in the news section about a "new poster 3.0" for the next FW.

However he did not say if it will be for OLD android 5 or 7; i hope egreat understood that we want REAL OS update not some useless small updates...

well looks like the wait is FAR FAR from over again...

What beast are you talking about? The 1395? Its a low-cost variant of the 1295....doesnt even have USB 3.0 and an inferior GPU.
Plus the inclusion of DV doesn't mean anything. Several Amlogic SoCs had DV support for a long time. The problem is that its not accessible for our purposes. Plus, there is no mention whether its dual layer or single layer.
This SoC is meant for streaming devices which do Netflix, Prime etc and not for local content.
It might be different for HDR10+, but there is close to zero content.

Zappiti said that there won't be any new device (based on new SoC) before mid 2020.
